One of the best things about having a home you are proud of is inviting your friends and family to visit. Oakleaf Property Management encourages our residents to lead full and active lives within their apartment homes, and our guest and visitation policies make sure everyone has a chance to make the most of it.
While you probably knew it was okay to have people stay with you for short periods of time, you may not remember all the details. Our guest policy is pretty straightforward: Guests are welcome to stay up to 14 consecutive days and nights within a 45-day period. We ask that residents submit a Visitor Notice Form if a guest or guests stay more than three consecutive nights.
Why all the paperwork? There are several reasons why we ask to know who is staying in our community and for how long.
- Emergencies. In the event of a fire or evacuation, guest notifications are an important way to account for people who may not be on the lease.
- Fairness. Our residents entered into agreements under the assumption that our occupancy guidelines would be strictly adhered to and that all residents were qualified the same equal way. Abuse of the guest policy by allowing long-term occupants is a violation of the lease.
- Courtesy. Too many people in an apartment for an extended time not only violates housing standards, but it also impacts parking, hallway and laundry room congestion, noise levels, and overall peace and enjoyment.
For the same reason, we also ask that residents notify the office if they will be taking an extended absence from their apartment. Using the Vacation Notice Form, residents let us know when they are leaving and when they intend to return, which is helpful in the case of unauthorized access, emergency maintenance issues (like unexpected leaks), and resident peace of mind.
Bear in mind that while a person is a guest in your apartment home, they must adhere to the same rules and policies you do as a leaseholder. They must respect our no smoking areas, parking arrangements, common areas, and the right for everyone to enjoy the comforts, conveniences, safety, and quality of living that Oakleaf Property Management is proud to offer.
