Whether you live in Northwest Iowa, Southeast South Dakota, or Central Nebraska, growing a garden in our area’s fine dirt is something nearly all of us feel compelled to do. And, as many of our Oakleaf residents know, we don’t let the fact that we live in apartments slow us down.
Section 8 housing, also known as housing choice vouchers, are available to United States residents who do not make enough money to make rent or mortgage payments. Drafted as Section 8 of the Housing Act of 1937, housing choice vouchers are administered by local public housing authorities (otherwise known as PHAs) and supported by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Irish or not, we're felling pretty lucky at OakleafPM. Between our amazing staff and fantastic residents, we couldn't ask for more. We were reminded of this when we saw fun ways that our staff and residents were getting into the St. Patty's Day spirit. With a pot-o-gold-themed cake and shimmery shamrocks lining the ceilings it was clear that we found our treasure at the end of the rainbow and it's at all of our OakleafPM locations!
If the lines at urgent care, doctors’ offices, and pharmacies are any indication, the flu virus is thriving in Siouxland. An airborne virus that causes fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, chills, and body aches, the flu is very common in the winter months, when people are hunkered indoors, mingling in enclosed public spaces, and touching common surfaces.
Please join the entire Oakleaf staff in congratulating Greenridge Apartments service coordinator, Kristi Bitterman, on her nomination for 2014 Person of the Year in Mitchell! Way to go!
“Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite.” What was a pleasant childhood bedtime rhyme is now a very real nightmare for people across the country. In recent years, bedbug populations have increased by 500% and have been found in a number of single-family homes, multi-family homes, and hotels. As small as an Appleseed and able to stow away on luggage, clothing, furniture, and nearly anything with a nook or crevice the width of a credit card.
The holidays can be especially difficult for those spending them alone if you aren’t equipped to handle them. We’re here to remind you that these times also offer a wealth of opportunity to reach out and celebrate the gifts of the season not only with yourself (which can truly be a gift of its own), but also the community around you.
While there are many great reasons to live in Oakleaf apartment communities, the holiday season brings attention to some especially important ones. Whether this is your first Thanksgiving in your apartment or the seventh, we hope you agree there’s no place you’d rather be this holiday season.
With so many variables—cost, location, size, amenities, services—finding the right apartment home is hard. For many people, their apartment is the launch pad for their life; it allows them close proximity to family, friends, and work while allowing them to maintain expenses and an active social calendar. It’s safe to say that when you find the right apartment, you want to keep it as long as possible.
